Orange Saltburst
Orange Saltburst originated from our vegetarian farmer's market customers. They wanted a fresh, all-natural
seasoning that would enhance any cooked or raw vegetable. In an all-vegetable diet, seasonings can make a
huge difference in flavor. We developed the recipe for Orange Saltburst because we felt that the light and sunny
flavor of citrus fruit livens up a majority of the vegetables we eat.
How We Make It
- Orange Saltburst begins with the selection of oranges. We carefully hand-select
every single orange
and lemon that we use to make this seasoning.
- There is no substitution for fresh orange zest. Its so labor-intensive that you
can't buy it anywhere.
For our Orange Saltburst, we zest straight from the orange to the jar.
- Next, we add the expeller-pressed orange oil, fresh rosemary, and sea salt.
- The final step is to fill each bottle, seal them, add the decorative rafia, and
the product label. We
write and design all of our own labels and product literature and have it printed at a small local printer.
When possible, we use recycled paper.
Ingredients
Orange Saltburst contains Portuguese sea salt, orange oil, fresh-squeezed lemon, rosemary, orange zest,
and paprika.
Recommended Uses
Orange Saltburst is surprisingly versatile because you can use it in the kitchen AND the bar. Not only
do we use it on halibut, roasted chicken, and steamed brocolli, but its also great on the rim of a margarita.
We sprinkle it on canteloupe, watermelon, and pineapple in the Summer and squash
in the Fall. Of course, we also use it to spruce up the 'ole Lemon Chicken recipe. Just remember to use
Orange Saltburst very sparingly until you get familiar with it. A little goes a long way.
