Have a Big Yearly Goal for Your Business
A business should continue growing in some manner or else it will just eventually die, right? With this in mind,
you should always have some goal that you want to accomplish every year. For example, getting some press in a
national food magazine or selling to a large grocery chain. Things like that. It will keep you on the move and
it will also keep your product in the public eye. Customers are known to get bored with the whole retail
experience, so you've got to stay ahead of the game and always seem new and fresh to them.
To always have a goal:
- Think of where you want to be in the next year and move towards that.
- Prioritize the high-level things you want to accomplish with your business and slowly, gradually check them off.
- If you want to grow slowly, take your goals down a notch. Maybe don't sell to the national chains until you've
been in business for five years.
- Decide what market you want to go after. Do you want to sell your products to gift shops all over the country
or do you want to sell to just one major food chain? This decision will impact how you market your products. Whether
you attend the Fancy Food Shows or whether you get a booth at the Dallas Market.
With a goal in mind, staying in the public eye is going to do nothing but help you get
there faster. When you have an active product line (one that changes with the public taste and whims), customers
will notice and buy from you.
