Garlic Saltburst

If you're like us, its very difficult to cook dinner from scratch when you come
home from work every day. We do our best to cook locally grown vegetables
and farm-raised meat, but the time factor makes it challenging. We created
our Garlic Saltburst to save ourselves time and we hope it will save you
time as well.

One of the staples in our kitchen is fresh garlic, which we use in virtually
everything. We found ourselves needing (okay, wanting...) roasted garlic
when cooking dinner, but every product contained dried garlic or garlic powder.
Never the real thing. Also, we had just started using sea salt in place of regular
table salt and we thought it would be convenient if they both came in the
same container. One weekend, we whipped up a batch and started using it
at dinner parties we were hosting and attending. Our friends loved it, so we took
it to a local chef who said he would buy some if we bottled it and the rest is,
as they say, history.

How We Make It

  1. Making Garlic Saltburst is a very time-intensive process, but it all begins
with the selection of fresh garlic. We personally inspect and hand-select
    every head of garlic.
  2. We roast the garlic.
  3. Then we mix in all the ingredients by hand.
  4. The salt is then ground in a food processor before it is bottled.
  5. The final step is to seal each bottle, add the decorative rafia, and the product
label. We write and design all of our own labels and product literature and have
it printed at a small local printer. When possible, we use recycled paper.

Ingredients

Garlic Saltburst is a combination of roasted garlic, Portuguese sea salt,
fresh-squeezed lemon, and Persian sumac.

Recommended Uses

Garlic Saltburst is great as a rub on meats, but you can sprinkle it on just
about anything. It has the warm and inviting aroma of roasted garlic that
can make the cheapest cut of meat taste like its been aged in garlic. If you
sprinkle a few granules in mashed potatoes just as you're mashing them, you'll
get tiny bursts of fresh-roasted garlic salt in every other bite. Or, for your
next dinner party, add it to olive oil and use it as a dip with your favorite bread.
We love it on steak and ribs! But honestly, its great on everything...
